Books donated to coaches that help college-bound students

March 6, 2013
It’s with gratitude that we announce the leaders at Ashby’s Great Expectations will be receiving copies of Up the Mood Elevator to help them cast a better shadow of moods on the students they’re teaching. Ashby’s Great Expectations works with:
  • Returning veterans
  • High-potential teens
  • Working adults
What the team at Up the Mood Elevator was particularly impressed with was a program that’s being put together to put world-class leadership within financial reach of every teenager and secondary school in America. A very purpose-driven and meaningful goal that spoke to us! We hope the books do some good at AGE!

Be Here Now – Staying in the Moment (TED Talk)

February 28, 2013
The notion of “Be Here Now” is a heavy theme throughout the book Up the Mood Elevator, and Larry Senn cites being present as a big part of staying on the higher levels of the Mood Elevator.

From When are humans most happy? To gather data on this question, Matt Killingsworth built an app, Track Your Happiness, that let people report their feelings in real time. Among the surprising results: We’re often happiest when we’re lost in the moment. And the flip side: The more our mind wanders, the less happy we can be. (Filmed at TEDxCambridge.)

Researcher Matt Killingsworth designs studies that gather data on happiness. One takeaway? “A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind.”
